Revival for Hope Initiative

…where kids learn to hope again

Water for Life

In the story of the Samaritan woman at the well, Jesus breaks down both cultural and religious barriers in his interaction with the beleaguered woman. She had walked from the nearby village in the heat of the day to avoid the morning or evening crowds that probably knew about her checkered past. Jesus saw through her behavior and her conversational diversions to offer her what she truly needed, spiritual refreshment for her thirsting soul. She was so overjoyed by her encounter with Jesus that she ran back to the village forgetting her water pot, while bubbling over with the Living Water that Jesus had given here.

It’s hard for many to imagine having to fetch water for their daily needs, but unfortunately it is a reality for many in our world. Many have to walk great distances to fetch water that most of us wouldn’t consider potable.

At the Revival for Hope Initiative Orphanage and the surrounding community, they have to trek up to a quarter mile (.402 km) to retrieve water from an open stream and carry it back to their residence. This carried water is used in everything that requires water, cooking, cleaning, laundry, and bathing. In much of Western societies we take for granted access to clean, safe, and readily available water, with just a turn of the tap or spigot.

There is a grand opportunity to provide a well and hand pump for the orphanage and community for as little as $3,450 (USD). This well would be installed by a ministry that specializes in serving needy people and communities around the world, gpartners.org.
This well, would be a huge blessing to both the orphanage and it’s community by providing a nearby, clean, cool, source of potable water. No longer would long treks for surface water with questionable potability be required. It would greatly improve the quality of life for many adults and children.

If Jesus was thirsty and asking for a cup of water, I believe that we would all rush to meet his need. Would we give a source of fresh water in his name? After all, Jesus did say, “in as much as you did it unto the least of these, my brethren, you have done it unto me.”

Please partner with Nsubuga and Revival for Hope Initiative to make this opportunity come to fruition. The sooner the money can be raised, the sooner they can be placed on the work schedule. Please designate your gift of any size to revivalhopeinitiative.org for the Well Project. May the “Living Water” of Jesus overflow in your life as your help provide water for life to those in need.

Hope Holds On

Hope holds on in the hardest places. When crisis strikes, children face fear, loss, and extreme vulnerability. That’s why we work alongside partners to deliver lifesaving essentials, safe spaces for children, and the support families need to survive the first days of an emergency. Backed by the strength of our global partners, we help children move from crisis to stability, rebuilding safer livelihood, stronger systems, and renewed hope for their future.

See how you can help.

Pure and Faultless Religion

“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows
in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. ”  James 1:27

Orphans and widows are very near to the heart of God. The same is true with the least of our brethren. Whenever we care for these people, we touch the heart of Him who loves the poor, the needy and outcasts. That’s what we do at Revival for Hope Initiative, we save and care. We take the initiative to revive hope in those whose lives would otherwise be hopeless.

Please, won’t you join with, and help us to fulfill this mission? Together we can make a world of difference in their world.

The God That Sees Us

What I tell my 75 kids is, you are not alone in this hard journey. God sees you, he loves you and  is waiting to wrap you in his arms. Let go of the weight and surrender to his will. Let his love transform us. We are cherished, and we are enough in Christ Jesus.

Putting It Into Practice

Remember how in yesterday’s post I mentioned the importance and power of prayer? Well today we get to apply that lesson to our real world, real-time situation here in Uganda.

Yesterday pre-election violence broke out here. The government has responded by cutting off the internet. This, to many people seems like no big deal, but it is a big deal. Many people and organizations here, like myself, and our orphanage, depend upon it, not just for communication, but also for commerce, for connection to our mobile money accounts. When the internet is shut down in our country, we cannot buy or sell if we don’t have provision ahead of time. It leaves the poor and underprivileged vulnerable to the hardship of deprivation and potentially vulnerable to bandits that might seek to take advantage of them.

Today, would you apply yesterday’s lesson to Uganda, to it’s government and military leaders, to it’s people, even to our orphanage? I believe that there is nothing more powerful than prayer to touch and change hearts, situations, and circumstances.

Pray with us that God Himself, will bless and guide those in authority to show restraint and mercy to the people. Pray that the people will likewise bless the leaders and show mercy, forgiveness, and restraint towards them. Pray that senseless, needless violence would cease, and that peace, calm, civility, and stability would prevail. Pray that God’s protection and provision would remain and reign over our people, country, and orphanage. This isn’t a call to arms, but a call to knees, a call to prayer.

May God’s Will be done in this upcoming election as well as all these matters. In Jesus Name! Amen!

Let us pray!

Prayer is Power!

If words have power, imagine what prayer can do.

Words can motivate and inspire. But prayer moves heaven. It connects human weakness with divine strength. It transforms anxiety into confidence, restlessness into peace, and uncertainty into mission.

God never wastes a prayer. Not one. Your prayer may not change the situation immediately, but it will change you.

Pray with boldness. Pray with persistence. Pray with dependence. At Revival For Hope Initiative, that is what we do.
